Cells in the body grow / die/ and are replaced all the time. That process of replacing the cells with abnormal cells is called "cancer." Maybe the time factor is not as useful.
(c) some people who have never smoked at all get lung cancer.", **** other factors may cause lung cancer. In general I would respond ... The body is a complex organism with millions of cells. All processes in the body are not fully understood.
The best we can do is look at the scientific evidence with an open mind. I cannot set up studies to look into all this stuff, so I trust the scientists who have dedicated much of their lives to these studies. For me, the studies that should be looked at as unbelievable are the "studies" where the tobacco industry has paid scientists to rule in their favor .. that tobacco does not cause cancer.
Independent studies .. even informal studies have shown that tobacco CAN cause cancer. Each person's body is different. Some can fight off infections better than others, so they probably fight off cancer better than others.
Until a real answer is arrived at in the future, why take the risk? Be smart and don't tempt fate with the chance of cancer. --- Some people have been hit by cars and have had little of no injuries .. So do you want to get hit by a car?
Some people have fallen thousands of feet when their parachute failed to open and lived (many broken boned, but did not die) ... so why bother with a parachute? Some religions believe in "snake handling" and are bitten by posionous snakes and live. Is that what you want to do?
There are many examples of things like this. Cigarette smoking is probably less certain. Everyone that smokes does not get cancer .. they probably have a stronger immune system to fight off this, but do you want to take that chance?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
