What ukulele strings to buy for GCEA tuning?

Hi Chloe I am so sorry your string just broke. I teach Ukulele at Bellarmine University here in Lousiville, KY. I require all my students to purchase the beginner Soprano Lanikai Ukes because they are the most reasonably priced ukes, come professionally set up for easy playability and the have the best sound compared to other ukes.

You made a good choice with the Lanikai LU-21c ukulele. You need to get Lanikai uke tuner and gig bag or case too. But you might already have these.

Go to www.bountyukes.com and tell Paul Weinstein I sent you or www.ukuleleworld.com I sent you. I have dealt with these companies for years and have never had a problem. I use Aquila white nylon (they are thicker) strings becasue they seem to last longer for me and produce a clearer sound.

I have also used the GHS black nylon strings, these strings are a little thinner, need to be tuned more often and break easier. I have students who have went to Guitar Center in Louisville, KY. I have never purchased anything from them.

You might just want to get a set of uke strings to use until the professional strings arrive after you place your order. Just be sure you get the uke strings that will fit your uke. For my birthday 12 years ago my husband had a $2000.00 ukulele handmade in Hawaii for my present.

So if you learn to play the soprano ukulele you can play all the other ukes because they all have the same fret board, tunings and you have the ability to play 4 different instruments because you learned the one soprano uke, You can also get a acoustic electric uke in the future when you want to upgrade to a different uke.

The bartione ukulele is the largest and the "daddy" size of the ukes but it is tuned just like the first 4 strings of a guitar EBGD becasue it is the first 4 strings of the guitar and played just like a guitar without having the 5th and 6th bass strings. This is a great way to learn to play the guitar and than move up to a guitar and play the 5th and 6th strings if you want to in the future. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
