Well, he has been stirring ethnic tensions. America was obviously rife for that kind of message. Blacks were once lynched on mere suspicion of crime.
This is nothing new, but it's old and very ugly stuff. And of course, it's not the first time a politician, in America and elsewhere in the world, has been stirring this kind of stuff. Trump hardly seemed apologetic.
He said he stirred passion. While he hasn't started financing something like the black shirts (yet?), it's pretty clear what kind of politics we're dealing with and pretty worrisome it's so popular.
