We pay taxes to give kids a free K-12 education because we know these kids will grow up being able to read and write and do simple math, so they'll be employable. So rather than suck up welfare or rot in expensive prisons, they'll lead productive lives and pay back the cost of their education many times in taxes. IOW it's not just good for the kids, it's good for EVERYONE that kids get educated.
When I went to college the same philosophy applied to 'post-secondary' education. There were always expensive, prestigious private institutions, colleges as well as grade schools, but states operated colleges for those who couldn't afford private, commercial schools. I got a good college education at a state college for fees of about $100/quarter.
And in my career I paid back that cost many many times! Today student debt is higher even than credit card debt! I think that's very worrying.
Kids coming out of college find that good jobs are harder to find because we've exported all our manufacturing overseas, and even if they do find a good job they'll be paying back their student debt for decades. Meaning they'll have just a much harder time getting a mortgage to get a house, raising a family, even helping their kids with college!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
