What would cause a digital camera not to upload pics to a computer with the error code ''The device is not recognized''?

Digital Camera to Computer Error For a computer to recognize a device, software called 'drivers' must be installed. The drivers are specific to the device, and many new devices do not have drivers packaged with Windows. If you purchased the camera brand new, you should have received a CD-ROM with the drivers and other software on it.

This disc will have to be loaded and run before the computer can recognize your camera. If you got the camera second hand, and did not receive the drivers disc, you should be able to download the drivers from the manufacturers web site. Even after the drivers have been installed, software called a 'browser' is still needed to be able to access the photographs.

Paint Shop Pro is one program which can do that, and there are many others. However, this software may be hard to find for free. The manufacturers website usually will offer the original CD-ROM shipped with the camera for sale for a small fee, and this may be the best option to get everything that is needed to be be able to download and print your pictures.
