I would have a minimal issue in driving a Toyota Hybrid. Fixing the problems associated with the recall is relatively straightforward, especially for skilled Toyota mechanics. The big problem for Toyota is a lack of consumer confidence.
The lack of confidence being caused by the problems with Toyota braking, which caused the recall in the first place. The reality right now is that Toyota are probably one of the safest vehicles in the world due to the recent events. Any car, which has been checked by Toyota mechanics will be safe.
I would be willing to drive a Toyota Hybrid without the need for any incentives, but they sure do help. I would be even more glad to try a test drive with an incentive. Naturally the test drive would influence my mind as to whether I wished to pursue the car or not.
I still consider Toyota to be a quality and generally well made brand of automobile. Mistakes happen though and I believe Toyota have done the maximum that could have been realistically expected of them.
Yes, I would still test drive a Toyota Hybrid car even after all the recalls that were reported. My sister and I have been a Toyota user since 1995 and up to now the Toyota we have is still good to drive. Except for replacements of brakes, shocks, springs, clutch, timing belt/chain, headlight and tail light bulbs, the car is still working properly.
Toyota, after the recall would certainly make sure that no unit will again be defective which will further embarrass the company, the family and for sure they will not be able to recover from a second major controversy regarding its safety. I will still be test driving a Toyota car even without any incentives since in my experience, it is fun to test drive newly built cars. Test driving, though for just a few kilometers will not convince you it is a good car to keep since you will only appreciate the car after several months of using it or even a year.
All you can "feel" on a test drive is its raw power, accessories and how cool is the air conditioning even under the heat of the sun. For me, making a decision about purchasing a car rests on the actual experience of other users, and reviews made by car experts. I still consider Toyota as well made cars because they have been a consistent and reliable car manufacturer for decades and everybody is allowed to make a mistake or two.
Its not that I don't feel for the deaths brought about by malfunctioned cars but I believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is really unfortunate that these accidents happened but I think the reason for these accidents is a wake up call for Toyota manufacturers not to be too complacent about their quality ever since they overtook GM as the top car manufacturer in the whole world.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
