Depends on your budget and your needs. All BMWs are classic front-engined/rear-wheel drive which actually makes them more demanding to drive but also far more responsive and rewarding than many front-wheel drive cars. Modern BMWs (from around 2002) have pretty good electronic driver aids to save new or inexperienced drivers from trouble.
Older BMWs certainly offer a lot of fun/performance for the money so an E30 or E36 3-series (1983-1999) would be a great value, relatively high-performance starter car. It would also help new drivers to understand the physics of driving and would contribute to them becoming better drivers far more than driving a modern front-wheel drive car. If your budget is higher then a brand new 1-series BMW is a not a bad bet but I would say that BMW have more competition from other manufacturers in their these days.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
