Either is good...to employers they are viewed as the same I dropped out in my senior year, due to a horrible car accident that I had. I had already been accepted to a college, and had planned on going. After, I healed (8 months later,) the college asked me for documentation of my high school diploma and final transcript, of course I didn’t have it.

They let me in on the condition, that I take the GED and produce a diploma, so it would be on file. In the meantime, I went to college, and waited on my results for my GED. I now have a GED, instead of a high school diploma.

The college went by my scores on the GED, as my final transcript. My being a supervisor now, and everyone I know who is, doesn’t frown on someone having a GED one bit. Highschool diploma and GED are the same to us.

If they ask for one or the other, no one will think less of the GED, and it’s better than nothing. My sister-in-law doesn’t have either. Every job she applies for tells her to get her GED, come back and apply.

I view a high school diploma and a GED as the same. It bugs me when I ask a person, where did you graduate, and they say I didn’t, I have a GED. Let me tell ya, you graduated, you may not of had a formal ceremony, but you graduated!

I know several people who have a GED, and have had success in their lives, work wise. Nurses, medical assistants, one is even an attorney. If you can, at all possible, stay in high school, and get your diploma there.

If life throws you a curve ball and for some reason you can’t complete your diploma in highschool, go for the GED! There are many reasons why a person may not graduate high school, and a well grounded, down to earth, intelligent boss/supervisor will know this. Every application I have every picked up, asks for one or the other.

Years from now probably both are equivalent. By then you will have years of experience and knowledge that will count for a lot. But initially many employers value a high school diploma more.

A friend of mine who owned an ice cream shop would review applications from many people throughout the the course of a year. It was her custom to first pull all the applications that only had their GED, and threw them away. She explained that any person who could not hang in there and complete high school had to have problems, and lacked the ability to work with all kinds of people and complete assigned tasks.

She didn't want those issues with anyone in her store. So if you are trying to decide what to do or how to advise someone, I would say hang in there. You will have more choices if you do.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
