Aie :) To me its still a bit shady. Here is a link I found.. What I like to do is put my olive oil in an oil spray bottle and I use it for everything, the oil won't change the taste of your food. When baking I spray a little bit on dust it with flour and nothing sticks :) Hope this link helps you out.It was good to see you :)zeer.com/Food-Products/Pam-Non-Stick-Coo... .

Anywho, non-stick cooking spray is fine to use. Here are a couple of articles of interest:signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20060913/ne... and associatedcontent.com/article/618829/int... Just don't use them on your non-stick pans. It will leave a yucky residue on them.
AK's answer about using a spray bottle with olive oil in it is great. Just make sure it's food grade plastic. And if you're using it for baking, just don't use extra-virgin olive oil.
It will leave a bit of a taste in your baked goods. And really, why waste something that expensive just to coat a pan? .
Thanks for the links, tedibear, very interesting! Aie 16 months ago .

Whatever it says on the label. And that's not a smart-arsed answer, it's the truth. I have cans or both extra-virgin olive oil and pure canola oil.
Both contain propellant and soy lecithin. Another can, kind of disturbingly, also contains a bit of silicon, and it was made for commercial (restaurant) use. I believe you can also buy food grade silicone alone.
Personally I would steer away from silicone as I'm not able to understand exactly what it is and how it is made. In any case, I don't really believe that enough of the stuff gets on your food and into your body to harm you. There's got to be worse stuff in the air you breathe.
Luckily, if you have any doubts about non-stick spray, it is easily avoided! .
