Yes, formatting it will remove all viruses and bugs. It will also remove your operating system and all your files. Formatting to remove viruses is WAY overkill.

Simply run a scan using the current and up to date antivirus software that you have installed.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
