What's the closest best alternative vacation destination near the Gulf that has not been affected by the recent Oil Spill?

I would highly recommend going somewhere like Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA. Both are great vacation destinations (especially for a long weekend) and are on the Atlantic, so they aren't going to be affected by the spill. Alternatively, you could hit the mountains of Tennessee which are beautiful and might give you at least a little relief from the heat at this point in the summer.

The other side of Mexico in the Pacific. One of the Islands or I don't think CanCun has been hit yet.

I was just in Playa Del Carmen in Mexico and it was amazing. It is on the Yucatan Peninsula about 45 minutes east of Cancun. The beaches were beautiful.

The food was fantastic. The Mayan ruins at Tulum are on the cliffs overlooking the ocean are stunning. We also took a day trip to Chichen Itza.It was $60 a person and worth every penny.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
