Some do, some don't. Some Northern Irish people like to think of themselves as Irish and some of them like to think of themselves as British. It just depends on the person.
I'm from the Republic but I live beside Northern Ireland. When I go into Northern Ireland, I acknowledge a difference because my phone network changes to a UK phone network and the money currency is different.. Other than that it's just the same place. I'm not bothered about it.
If a Northern Irish person wants to think of themselves as Irish/British, that's up to them. Nothing to do with me. Bonus Question; Yeah there's Irish speakers in Northern Ireland..?
I was raised in a border county and strangely enough I think of northern ireland as a different country. To me it may as well be Scotland, even France. Years ago you couldn't drive up without getting through a checkpoint of army men with big guns in their hands, they would often make you get out of your car and search it.
Used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid. They use different money, have very different accents. I find it strange when someone is called Irish say on tv but their from the north.
I immediately wonder if their prodistent or catholic because if their prodistent they won't like being called Irish!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
