What's the likelihood that Texas, Utah, Georgia, Ohio and Maryland will pass tougher immigration laws as well?

Since the federal gov't isn't doing it, I am glad to see states taking action! Let's just hope every other state does the exact same thing!

For those of you that think Amnesty is going to get a bunch of new voters in for those who need them, then you don't know immigration as you think you do. Amnesty can "give a path to citizenship" but does not allow you to use it as citizenship. Working Visa holders can only work on that Visa.

It does not give them the right to vote. Greencard holders - they do not get the right to vote. Even as a long time greencard holder you cannot get welfare nor government assistance.

You can only vote if you are a CITIZEN. Now, with that said, most of you don't even know that your states already have similar laws in effect. My state, NC, has had a similar law in effect since 2005 and it was before they denied drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.

Why it is taking the rest of the country to catch up is beyond me. We did it the right way the first time without stepping into federal law. If you are arrested under suspicion of an infraction or crime, your legal status is in question.

We send in personal info to INS and DHS and if it doesn't pan out, you serve your minimum sentence for the infraction or crime then are sent to immigration court and then quickly deported to your home country. No muss, no fuss, no media hoopla, ect. Utah is known for it's sanctuary status as a state for lot's of immigrants, legal and illegal.

Now they are over inundated (as they say) with too many. Approximately 1.8 % of their total population is of some foreign decent. They are not "over run" just buying into the hype.

Almost all of their politicians are up for re-election and are facing new opponents that are gaining momentum. That is the only reason they want to instill a "law" similar to AZ's. How well they actually pass it and enforce it will be up for debate.

Ten to one, their law enforcement officers will not be as gunho as they think they will. They just want a piece of the media pie.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
