They don't get paid by the show, but they do get paid. When stars go on tv, it is to plug their latest movie or book or cd. The music company, or movie company pays them to do this.

Yes, they get paid but it's only a mini fee. The Screen Actors Guild has a minimum wage that celebs must receive for appearing on television. The last I heard was that the fee was $250 but that was years ago and no doubt its been raised since then.At any rate it is nothing even close to the big bucks they make for concerts or the like.
