They don't get paid by the show, but they do get paid. When stars go on tv, it is to plug their latest movie or book or cd. The music company, or movie company pays them to do this.
Yes, they get paid but it's only a mini fee. The Screen Actors Guild has a minimum wage that celebs must receive for appearing on television. The last I heard was that the fee was $250 but that was years ago and no doubt its been raised since then.At any rate it is nothing even close to the big bucks they make for concerts or the like.
Yes, these people are paid "scale" as in SAG or AFTRA union rules.
I think franary and TurboB both have it right. I remember hearing someone on Johnny Carson (am I dating myself or what? ) say they got a small standard fee.
However, they are plugging their book/movie, etc. Which will generate sales and profits. I'm sure that, in the meantime, the editor of the book, or producer of the movie, or whomever, is paying the celebrity to be on tour, so to speak. They're not just on one show, they're making a lot of stops.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
