When doing a task, do you normally write the guide note first, or the steps/facts/details?

Well, not all Tasks are How to tasks. I haven't done any How to, so I talk about the other ones. Sometimes guide notes include statistical information, like the number of awards while other parts have more original content.

I write the statistical part first because it is easier to complete. Completing the easier part gives you confidence. However, the original part is more interesting, more creative, so I might start with it first in the future, when I get better writing skills.

I have only written 28 How To's so far, but what works for me is that I sit down and write out the entire article in Word, begining with the Guide Note and working my way down through the steps, ending with the tips. It is the best way I have found to organize my thoughts and outline the steps in my mind. I have a very linear way of thinking though, so my method might not work if you have a more abstract way of processing information.

I don't know if my answer is helpful, but I do hope you figure out what works for you!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
