The romance, hidden behind the obivious.........My Grandmother's touch.......The softness of her work weary hands across my face. Closing my eyes, and drifting backwards................I feel their softness, I see the headboard of her bed................a woman's intimate place.........showcasing the simple things that are important to her.............the softness of her bed covers......letting no man soil or displace them, not even her own revered husband. There is a man's world and then there is a woman's......even in her defined world, she drew the boundary, giving my Grandpa his due, and accepting her own just worth.
Her face was wrinkled, even at our first meeting, when I was but very, very young, the lines that greated me, she did not expect me to change........her hardships had begun to make their way across her face...they were etched there, before my coming, she accepted this......to her children, it may haved seemed, easy, soft, or stern and demanding, there for the taking..........to my own eyes..............her face...........was kindness, understanding, forgiveness...............welcoming...............homeMy Grandmother's face....................soft, kind, forgiving, welcoming.....................20t years later..................I can still see it, aspire to it.....want to be it........................I remember, how and when she told me, .........every wrinkle is a place where a smile has been..................she was very wrinkled, but she was so soft to the touch..desite her very hard working hands. Closing my eyes, relaxing my mind..........I can FEEL her touch........I CAN smell her scent............To linger on..........THAT is beauty. Beauty is NOT about eye shadow, liner or lipstick................laidies, you need to know this...........beauty is about welcoming others and the kindness you show them...........
Beauty to me lies in the satin cold of the stones perched about a graveyard. Beauty as well as history. Victorian tombstones, tall statues that guard the not-so-active residents of the area...
The first thing that comes to my mind on hearing that word are memories of my children when they were babies.
There are many different things I think of when I think of beauty. Of course outer physical beauty is easy to recognize but I also see beauty in nature: the way a butterfly flitters about the flowers, or waves crashing against a shoreline. Beauty also comes out in baby's smiles and a delicious home cooked meal. So, for me, beauty is like a tree with many branches extending into several different directions.
The first thing that comes to mind is 'black' I don't know what that means regarding word association but it is the tying of black to beauty as in the horse or book.
The ocean comes to mind. Typically a scene from nature is beauty defined.
It has two meanings to me. Some people have beauty on the surface. They look nice and have beautiful bodies.
Others have beauty underneath. They have a very kind heart and does unselfish things to help others.
My amazing partner. She is everything I need in life, and more.
When I hear beauty, the innocent face of a new born comes to my mind. The pure, tender, soft and supple skin. Peaceful face.
The most beautiful creation of God.
The first word is NATURAL... I think its all about being yourself and nobody else.
Magnificance. The magnificance of: nature; music; life; strength; fragility; contentment; Uniqueness. My Magnificant Seven.
Inner beauty as what the current Ms Universe answered to her winning question...
First thing in my head ... a woman. Second thing ... everything about nature.
When I see the word 'Beauty', strangely...the first thing that comes to mind is the Francis Ford Coppola produced movie - "Black Stallion". I first saw the film when I was pretty young, 6 or 7...and I remember what an impact it had on me at such a young age...the beginning especially, during the sinking ship scene...and later, when the boy wakes up on the beach and 'the Black' is standing over him...and promptly saves him from a venomous snake. I could speak about many other forms of beauty...but there are such rare moments where animals are majestic to us humans.
Usually we simply look down upon them, or eye them with pity and possibly guilt. It seems to be only true animal lovers that may look upon their favorite species as 'beautiful'. But when I was a very young boy, watching that black, wild Arabian horse race as fast as it could with young Alec riding bareback through the desert...was as close to understanding beauty as I'd known at that time.
When I hear the word beauty the first thing that comes to mind is wildlife and the great open spaces of nature. How the grandeur of National Parks and even the backyard has its own beauty.
Being in love - because then you are acutely aware of the true beauty of an individual.
MY life...everything about my life is beautiful.....nothing I want to change.
My three beautiful daughters! They are my life!
Transcendence; the state of being beyond the realm of what we can feel with our immediate senses. The feeling of complete peace and calmness inside myself and with the environment around me. Beauty lies in moments, in memories, in scents, and in sounds. It lies in the details, the small things in life often over looked in our busy day to day lives.
Beauty can be found in everything from nature, to people, to the strange. Beauty is what happens when we open ourselves up to the world and allow for all miracles and possibilities to be experienced.
Beauty is symmetry, harmony, wholeness and aesthetics. Beauty always gives us a feeling of admiration, attraction and even devotion. Sometimes it can also give us addiction.
There can be a beautiful melody, a beautiful sight or a beautiful performance. There can be a beauty of a movement, like a beautiful dance or a view of an elegant nice-moving horse-rider. Something can taste beautifully or smell beautifully.
Beautiful things fill us up and make us float, dream, desire.
Nature and fractals. It's hard to tell you why it is so relaxing to admire fractals in nature.
I closed my eyes, and found that my answer is "the peace that comes from within when one is satisfied. " It might not always be my answer, depending on the moment. Sometimes, it could be a perfectly caught "Hail Mary" pass.
You can't find the real beauty by just looking...look inside the heart and you'll surely find it.
Flawed perfection. What truly makes anything beautiful is it's flaws, be it the beauty in mother nature, be it in the physical appearance of a man or woman. Flaws are beautiful because they define uniqueness, individuality and natural grace.
For me flaw defines perfection, thus it is beautiful.
Pleasure. Any thing, place, person, situation can be beautiful and there is no clear definition of why you find them beautiful. All I know is that, when seeing or touching or hearing something I find beautiful I feel intense pleasure.
Hearing the word 'beauty' always, even fleetingly, gives me pleasure.
Green pastures is what comes to mind on hearing the word "beauty".
Purity ... Yes that is the first thing which strike to mind.
The first thing which comes to mind is NATURE......
While studying in the computer lab, I happen to gaze through the glass window of students reading, joining in study groups, putting all of the focus of their dreams within the pages of those books. The smile, The laughs, The serious stares of trying to comprehend what they were reading. Today I saw the beauty in learning and all that is gained from it.
Thanks for asking this question. Beauty can be whatever you percieve It to be.
Kindness, generosity, and a smile. That's what comes to mind for me.
The first thought that came into my mind when I looked at this question was my mom. She is what the word beauty stands for. I promise when you look into my mothers eye you will find out what beauty is.
The first thought that came to mind was of myself.
My daughter. I have called her my Little Beauty since she was born 3 months ago. It is a saying in Australia "You little beauty!" whenever something REALLY good has just happened in your life.
I have to say nature's beauty is the first vision that comes to mind when I hear the word beauty. Mother Nature is quite a mistress. She is beautiful and she is vengeful.
My wonderful, caring, magnificent soul of a girlfriend.
PEACE. It means quietness and relaxation of comfort position. It will be imaginary of beautiful white cloud with formation of animals showing peace of togetherness.
That is what I get when doing meditation. I feel the air fresher as each breath being taken. Quietness in the surrounding that gives me the peace and relaxation. So, it is the peace that will be in mind when the word beauty is said.
I think of Oguni, Yamagata, Japan. To me, that is the most beautiful place in the world. The fog sets in at night, and reflects the most intriguing colors as the sun rises at dawn.
Everything is so green in the mountain and mirrors so nicely in the river. At night it is so calm and the frogs sing all night long. I am such a city girl, but that few months in the country was lovely~.
I think about an evening in 1986. I was standing on the beach where I lived in So. Cal surf fishing and the sun had dropped to the point where it was just a orange / purple ball sinking into the sea.
Two dolphins leaped in perfect synchronicity forming parentheses on either side of the sun. But I see great beauty in so many things it is hard to say that one is somehow better than another.
To be completely honest, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of beauty is passion; passion in everything we do, passion in every emotion and gesture...
My life. Hard as it is sometimes it is still the most beautiful experience that continues on.
Something pleases your eyes, soothes your mind and changes the mood literally. And of course, it brings an unconditional smile too. Beauty can be anywhere and in anything...
A great sunset, waves lapping on the shore and me and my wife alone on a beach to relax :).
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of the word beauty is a multicolored, vibrant field of poppies, and wild flowers in late spring. There's something innately, and uniquely beautiful about nature.
Mother nature at her best. I work in an area that is absolutely gorgeous. You would have to pay someone to see sights like this.
We get paid to work there. On the other hand if you are talking about another beauty, well, I would have to say that beauty comes from within. It is not what you see on the surface, but is what is really deep down.
For anyone to see it truly you need to look deeper. For the beautiful people of the world (fantastic model types) you need to get a better picture of what is out in the real world. Sorry to be so frank.
Beauty is the truth behind the smile. It's beyond what everyone else sees. It's noticing a special and unique feature. It is a feeling given off, provoking a different experience in all who see.
Beauty is real, timeless and pure.
The first thing that comes to my mind is the saying: "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. "And I think there is a lot of truth in that. What you perceive as beautiful may not be beautiful to others.
Take for example, woman. We all have our own perception what makes a beautiful woman. Some like them thin, some like them roly-poly, some like them tall, some like them short, etc..Even in arts, it is difficult to decide what makes something beautiful.
Take for example, modern art. I can't appreciate the drawings of Picasso. If you ask me, I think my kids' doodlings are way better.
;-).
To be honest, I think about the first unattractive thing that come to mind. And then I would stew about why it is unattractive until I figure out why, then conclude afterwards that it was silly of myself to have made that judgement in the first place, because it was an attractive thing/person/object all along. I think that's how prejudice starts when you assume that something is not attractive right off the bat without reason.
My life, and how beauty is all around me, in every way possible!
Pulchritude is my all time favorite synonym.
Knowing that your beauty, instead of someone telling you, love comes from inside you not out.
Peace... a person at peace I tend to find beautiful, same with nature.... e.g. Snow, quiet ocean.
The word beauty brings to mind a field of sunflowers in France.
Happiness. When I think of beauty, true unabashed beauty, I can't help but smile as I feel some sort of calm coming over me. I imagine the sun setting, or the feeling of the air after a spring rain.
I see the simple flower sitting on my kitchen table, or the love of a child. In every situation it is a calm, peaceful, happiness that settles onto me whenever beauty enters the picture.
Beauty to me reminds me of our house in hills in himachal pradesh - india which was very serene and aloof from noisy world and population , full of greenery and humming of sweet birds.

When you are in love and when you hearing beauty the real image of your lover is appear in front of you..
I would like to have thought of dragonflies dancing in total peace and harmony, the crashing of waves against the shore, or the smile on ones face when they gain all hope. And I did. But society has corrupted our definition of beauty.
Many of us are lucky enough to know that we are truly beautiful. We really are. But our world has formed a twisted, ugly take on the word.
Magazines, TV shows, celebrities. It has all caused us to stutter on the word. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' I know what is truly beautiful, and I won't let what anybody says take that away from me.
Honestly, my mother. There was a time when I was a child that I thought she was the most beautiful person in the world.
Purity, Nature and Haya. Purity in relations, purity of heart, purity in intentions... everything that's pure represents a kind of beauty. And nature is the purest.
Hubble images of the universethe Arthur Ravenel bridge in Charleston, SCthe Sangre de Cristo mountains in NMthe ocean.
Healthy and content, being in harmony with the flow of life and the universe. Graceful motions and emotions about oneself and others.
Palm trees in front of mountains and a big, big sky.
Character is what you are when no one is looking. " I don't know who said this, but it resonates with me. When someone makes the choice to be noble, it rings beautiful to me for quite some time.
Life, because for me everything is useless without it. How can you appreciate beauty without life? Then life is beauty.
Serenity. When a person or place exudes a feeling of serenity, inner beauty can be visible to the eye.
The first thing that comes to my mind is a woman with a beautiful soul, a happiness-spreading woman!
My beach-house in Goa, India. Just in the lap of mother nature surrounded by the green landscape and few steps to the Sea side.
Understanding, chaos and mystery. These are things that intrigue me and where I find beauty. If you were talking in a more physical sense of the word, I would say the most beautiful part of the female body( as a male and in my opinion) would have to be her eyes.
I find that I am attracted to they eyes, and personality (i. E not a total bitch(pardon me)).
For some reason women are still the most graceful thing this planet has to offer to a man. They make us happy and give us purpose.
Nature, absence of human beings and society..

To be honest, I think of hair. I can wear beautiful clothes and great makeup but if my hair is a mess I don't feel beautiful. I know I should say something deeper than external beauty but that was the first thing that came to mind.
The intricacy of the universe. It is a beautiful thing (and frightening), looking out into space at the countless stars, the comets, the vastness of it all and then realizing that we (the human race) are more important than all of that. We are more important than the most beautiful galaxies, even the most beautiful flower or work of art.
But our beauty is not from the outside. Although there is physical beauty, I'm not talking about that kind of beauty. What I am referring to is the beauty of being created as more than just something physical.
The image of God we carry, although tainted by sin, gives us the ability to appreciate beauty and interact with the rest of the world. Although physical beauty is something to be appreciated, we are more than that, we are sons and daughters of God. We are deposed Kings and Queens.
Capable of the most atrocious acts of violence and the creating some of the most beautiful works of art. Yet, we are beautiful, not because the universe made us that way, but because we are created in God's image. And doesn't beauty hinge on this?
Could the natural causes of evolution, in all its vastness of space and time, create in us an appreciation for the hidden beauties of this world...the beauties beyond physical appearance? I think not. If evolution had its way beauty would be only that which is useful and promotes fitness and advantages.
Yet, there is beauty in a grandmothers touch (see post below), there is beauty in altruism and self-sacrifice (something evolution would not promote) and there is even beauty amongst the despair of this world. That beauty comes in the form of Jesus Christ, not as a physically beautiful man, but as a Beautiful Hope. It has taken me all this time to just say the most beautiful thing to me, and what I think about when I think about beauty, is Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.
What could be more beautiful than a loving God saving an evil people from torment and destruction? What could be more beautiful than a hope that keeps us going in the toughest and ugliest times? That is the Gospel message.
And that is beauty.
The first thing that came to my mind was "and the Beast". Seriously. But in regards to beauty itself, I think of the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
A blank canvas. This may sound more poetic than it is, but when I heard the word beauty, I see nothing. At first.

For me I see beauty in nature as well, it's simple things like laying sitting on the porch at night looking at the stars or even hearing a nice melody. Beauty is something that just is...if that makes sense. As an Graphic Art major, I tend to see beauty the most in HTML/CSS format, which most people can surely appreciate as well.
:)When I hear the word beauty, I tend to think of (and yes it's cliche' but it's true) my husband. To me he is more beautiful than any piece or music or painting, he stands alone in his own category. He's a work of art in himself, and to me that is beauty.
Very good question by the way!
Concerning physical beauty, the first thing that comes to mind is a life being lived center stage. The spotlight always being on. Some people crave this kind of attention, others don't.

An early morning rose just opening to the world and touched with a drop of dew.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
