When I tried to snap on the Snap ‘n ShapeTM the tomato stem broke and the tomato fell off. Is the device too heavy?

No. Most likely when you were trying to snap it around the tomato or when you slid the clip on you pulled down on the tomato not realizing it, and caused it to break. Just snap it on to another young cherry tomato.
