When I turn on my computer, it takes time to start-up;when it is ready it makes a noise like a plane take-off, & a pop! It's a rather interesting noise, but I don't know what causes it. Anyone else experience this phenomenon!
It's certainly not harmful, just interesting and curious to me. Asked by dhaber 47 months ago Similar questions: turn computer takes time start up ready makes noise plane take off pop Computers > Hardware > Desktops & Laptops.

Hard drive spin up while booting One of or a combination of two possible things you are hearing. You may have a fan with bad bearings or that is dirty. Do you clean the inside of your computer?
The hard drive is spinning up to speed and then the read write head is disengaging and returning to its resting place. This is the most likely of the two.
Imminent Hardware Failure This sounds like an imminent hardware (typically hard drive) failure is going to happen. I would play it safe and backup all the data that you need from your hard drive. External hard drives are your best bet for this job, they are cheap and reliable.
The plane sounding noise might be of a bad fan that needs to be replaced, but it could also be a hard drive failing and having a hard time reading its data. Could be several factors causing this, I say try or check out the following... #1 - make sure your computer, and all its components including speakers and printers are plugged into power strip which has a third prong or ground. Could be static buildup or improper grounding. #2 - If your confident in how to do this, or have a friend who can, give your computer a good cleaning.
Turn it off and unplug your comuter and follow the instructions on this link. There are lots of pictures, and this can help. I have known computers to make a pop sound when dust and dirt get in the electronics. In your case, please be sure to clean out your speakers, all of them with a vacuum.
#3 - Taking the proper precautions for static and shock, (turn off and unplug your computer, ground yourself on the computer inside metal frame) take out and reseat your sound card. #4 - Lastly, update your computer via the Windows update and your computer sound cards web site.As far as the sound that is like a plane take-off, my system's hard drive does make a similar sound when I turn it on, possibly that is it? Anyway, I hope this helps and you either find out the cause or fix your problem.

Don't know about the noise but... Most PC's that take long to boot up means the Operating System is performing actions or threads on programs that are run during startup. I generally don't like applications that automatically start up when the PC OS starts up. To modify these options go to start->run and type in msconfig and hit enter.
Go to the startup tab and uncheck any application that you feel should not startup when the OS starts up. This should help increase the speed at which your computer boots up. ~Jon .
Sounds like a fan going out. A fan can sound like a jet plane taking off either normally (in servers and high-end workstations) or because it is unbalanced. The "Pop" is probably the fan is unbalanced, builds up enough RPM, and either gyrates enough to hit something to re-seat it on it's spindle, or the motherboard kicks it off because of the power surge the fan is trying to draw as it "Pops!" against something and keeps on trying to turn.
I would pop the side off, isolate which fan, and replace it. Overheating is soemthing you do not want in a computer, ever! Sources: sysAdmin .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
