When OS X Leopard comes out, will all new Mac machines come with it preinstalled? And will their prices rise in effect?

I'm wanting to get one of the newest Mac Books with the Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo processor, but knowing that Leopard is coming out this Oct, I'm thinking that I'm going to wait till then, in hopes of purchasing both of these in one package. Yes and no - if history serves Apple has always included the latest version in all new shipping Macintoshes and the prices will not go up (they never had). Apple is very careful watching the prices and would not simply increase the price for a new version of the OS. They will sell the OS separately for all current users, and new users get it included as you need an OS anyway.

You may want to check with Apple on this but I know in the past that they included a coupon for a free upgrade to the next release of the OS. You may find that buying now you will be eligible for the Leopard release free of charge. Good luck!

How it has always worked... Apple has always included the newest operating system on their new machines after it releases. Also, the cost has never jumped in my experiencing of buying Apple computers in the last 7 years. The only reason people will be spending more money on the new OS is if they are upgrading existing systems..

Yes - all machines purchased from apple.com or an apple retail store will have it pre-installed. Prices stay the same. In apple retail stores, the Mac Geniuses install the newest software on machines that are in the store when a new operating system is released. So, in some cases, your computer box will say "Tiger", but it will actually be Leopard.

There is only ONE version of apple's operating system (unlike Vista's 5 or 6 or 80 million), and they all cost $129. October is a long time to wait for a Mac, so I say buy one now, then shell out the minimal cost for Leopard. It will definitely help to have a working knowledge of Tiger when Leopard comes out. Just my opinion.

I've never heard of the price rising I don't remember Apple ever raising the price of their computers just because they've installed a new OS on them. There have been, however, programs that give you a free upgrade to the new OS if you've bought your computer within some time window. I'd check with Apple (at an Apple store if you have one available) to see if there's going to be such an upgrade option this fall..

Yes and No When Apple releases a new version of their OS, they do put it on all new hardware. And no, the price doesn't increase because of a new release. Hardware prices are set independently. So yeah, waiting till october will save you about $130.

But it's not like waiting for Vista, where an upgrade would be horrendous and may even be impossible. An upgrade to Leopard won't hurt..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
