First off, the AD chooses the games although the coaches certainly have some input. When larger schools play each other they typically do a "home and home" arrangement where they play one game at each school in successive years. So USC goes to ND, the next year ND goes to USC.
Most large programs traditionally schedule one (or more) schools who is willing to travel to the larger school and not expect to get their own home game out of it. Each team gets something out of it. Big School - an extra home football game for their larger fan base and the extra revenue that brings in.
Small School - the chance for their players to play in front a far larger crowd, national TV exposure, and a making more money than their own home games give them.
Most just contact a school and schedule a game take for example APP State vs Michigan It was supposed to be a morale boosting blowout for Michigan, APP State was paid to come, we all know what happened later but thats how it works.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
