Where can I find free software to clean off a hard drive on a computer I want to sell?

I don't have a lot of sensitive things on it but there is some information I wouldn't want to get into the wrong hands. Or is it too risky to sell a used computer? Thanks for your help.

Use BCWipe. The basic BCWipe program will wipe the free space on your hard drive, so anything you've deleted will be gone forever. But it's probably better to use BCWipePD, which wipes the drive entirely clean, and then you (or the buyer) can reinstall Windows using the system restore disc, if you have one.

That should be enough for anyone, but if you're really paranoid, and you (or the buyer) don't mind buying a new drive, you could remove the hard drive and physically destroy it. I did that with a hard drive that contained sensitive info but died before I could wipe it. I ended up taking it apart and pouring in some strong acid and chrome etch, which destroyed the circuits and fittings pretty well, although the drive platters didn't seem to be affected.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
