Where can I get dimmable and/or 3-way compact fluorescent bulbs?

A few places... I have used 1000bulbs.com a few times, and always gotten great service. Their dimmable bulbs are here, and their three-way bulbs are here. There is also bulbs.com, which I haven't used.

Here are their dimmable bulbs. They don't seem to carry three-ways. And by the way, if you come across "cold-cathode" bulbs, you should know that they are instant-on (without the slight pause you sometimes get with CF bulbs) and dimmable.

They last longer than even CF bulbs, around 25,000 hours compared to 10,000 or so for CF bulbs. But they cost more. Also, sometimes people don't look at the "color temperature" of the bulb.

If you want a warm, yellow light like from an incandescent bulb, you will want a low color temperature, somewhere around 2500K. Bulbs with a higher color temperature will make a whiter or bluer light. Lastly, you might be interested in air-purifying bulbs.

The glass has a hard coat of titanium oxide, which becomes a strong oxidizer when struck by light. The bulb eliminates ozone, odors, and even dust. It is slow, because there is no fan and the bulb surface is small, but it is silent and painless to use; it works automatically whenever you turn the light on.

I have a few, and they do help keep the mustiness out of the rooms. Good luck! .

Sorry but fluorescent are not dimmable. The incandescent lamp, by Mr. Edison, has the benefit of changing in brightness, as the voltage through its filament is varied, from no light at all to a white-hot brightness that occurs just before the filament "burns up". The fluorescent lamp, on the other hand, depends upon the "ionization" of a gas, between two "electrodes".

This phenomenon occurs suddenly, and the lamp is basicly either "on" or "off". The brightness is "slightly" variable, but not to any significant extent. Therefore these lamps are almost never used for theater, TV, or other "dramatic" purposes where dimming is required.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
