If a couple of friends or relatives are coming along then perhaps they would babysit. Then you could get at least the wedding night to yourselves. I've been reading that it is acceptable now to have a post-elopement celebration at a later date.
You would send out a wedding announcement that includes an invitation to the celebration. OTOH, maybe she would be happiest with a small wedding near home and a traditional reception where the people invited are the same people invited to the ceremony. As long as you do not keep people through a meal hour, and hold it earlier in the day, you can get away with only a cake and punch reception.
You don't need to hire a band or serve alcohol either. May I suggest a morning wedding with a brunch reception? It's less expensive.
Alcohol would not be expected, but you could serve champagne, mimosas or bloody Marys if you wanted. The festivities could be over early enough to catch a flight and start your honeymoon immediately.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
