Here is a helpful poll that does not answer your question completely.
Basically, I think University of North Carolina Chapel ll is traditionally the best (1) Division I women's program period and (2) very strong academically. That program produced Mia Hamm and Kristine Lilly, both World Cup winners, and Mia of course being in a league of her own.
You could do worse going to University of Virginia, which is more known for its men's soccer team (Bruce Arena, the former US national team coach, used to coach there), but has an excellent women's program and is also an excellent university academically (I would rank it higher than UNC academically).
Santa Clara University is another top-ranked womens soccer program, having produced Brandi Chastain, another US world cup winner and famous for taking her shirt off in 1999 (she had her sports bra on, but for whatever reason it was still vaguely controversial). However, SCU is not in the same academic league as UNC or UVA. I know it's a decent university, but UNC and UVA are national academic powers.
That is only a partial answer--there are I am sure many many more colleges that will meet your twin goals (pun perhaps intended). Good luck!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
