There are a couple of places to donate to animal rescue charities in Alberta, Canada. Such organizations as the Alberta animal rescue, The Calgary Humane Society and Angel's dream small animal rescue would welcome any donation.
ARF, along with every other rescue in the city, is FULL! We could really use foster homes & holding areas for both dogs and cats. We have an urgent need for dog foster homes.
By signing up as a foster home or holding area, you can be directly responsible for saving a life as we can only rescue as many dogs & cats as we have foster placements. All food and medical care is provided. The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the fourth part of the 2012 Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) of Alberta.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
