Which is stronger a white gold rope chain or a white gold box chain? thanks?

Thanks! How can I tell how big a 1mm box is or a 1.5 mm rope? I am needing a chain to put a 1" pendant on and its hard to tell by looking at a picture.

I would recommend a solid rope chain over a box chain, but you would only be able to tell that by weight, not from a pic Depending on the weight of the 1 inch pendant, a solid (or filled) rope chain would be the best buy as it is much stronger than a box chain or a hollow chain. Gold hollow chains tend to stretch when you suspend something heavy from them; and once they start to stretch they can break. You wouldn't want to spend the money for a chain and then possibly lose it and the pendant accidentally.

I think your best bet would be to go to a jeweler to purchase the chain. This way you can see what you are buying and I have found I get much better quality at the jewelers' than from a catalog or "chain" store (pardon the pun). Also, if need be, the jeweler will always repair what you have purchased from him/her, and they tend to have good sales also..

Hard to answer BUT a 1" pendant if it is shiny will look better on a 1 mm box than the rope. Both are very strong, but the purpose is to show off the pendant while keeping it secure..... my opinion .

Depends on quality. A well-made chain of either type will outdo a poorly made one. In general, a well-made and well-taken-care-of box chain will be stronger than a comparable rope chain.
