Meaningless and loaded question. For all those questions, you could answer "Democrats" or "Republicans", because, somewhere, somebody who was elected with a party affiliation with the letters r.e.p.u.b.l.i.c.a. N in it somewhere, they "proposed" such legislation, in some legislative forum.
But of course it's being devious, ingenuous, and deceptive. There have been several parties with the word "Republican" in them. Including the "Radical Republicans", whose platform was nothing like the Republican party of 1910-1980.So YES, you can say that "Republicans" "Proposed" all those wonderful things, but that backfires on you.
First of all, those folks had nothing to do with the modern "republican" party. And anybody with a shoe-size IQ or higher knows full well what party actually fought for those things. Nt: it did not start with an "R".
And by mentioning this Democratic laundry list, and trying to shine the Republican apple with them, you're ADMITTING those are good things. Thanks..
Let me guess. I'm going to say it's what used to be called the Repub party, now known as the smoking remnants.
2 The Republican party of the early 20th Century bears no resemblance to the party of today. They kicked out the last of the progressives around 1920 or so. Nixon proposed lowering the voting age to 18, following the national sentiment during the Vietnam war.It was reasoned that if an 18-year-old was mature enough to die for his country, he ought to be able to vote for its leaders.
Nixon was also a liberal by the standards of the current Republicans.

3 >Nixon was also a liberal by the standards of the current Republicans. I've always thought that Republicans have an easier time selling progressive ideas, as noone can accuse them of being Marxists. Ergo, Nixon was the one that set up wage and price controls (Marxist!).
(Cost-of-living adjustments! ) (Environmental Protection!) (welfare! ) ( Food stamps!
) (desegregation!) (native american self-determination! ) And Nixon was hugged by Breshnev! Nixon had secret talks with China!
No Democrat could do any of those things without getting flailed in print and maybe for real.

4 Hacker. You are right that Nixon set up wage and price controls. So did FDR, Carter and Canadian Trudeau.
COLAs were set up in 1975 and Nixon resigned in 1974 so it was Ford who set up COLA's not Nixon. Welfare started in the 1930s under FDRFood stamps started in the 30s. Desegregation started in 1954The Native American Self Determination Act was enacted in 1996.
Nixon went to China, but it wasn't a secret as far as I know. The trip was highly publicized. You are right about the EPA, a bad idea, and you are correct that Nixon was liberal in many ways.
Also not good.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
