Which teams will enter the 2010 NBA Finals and which do you think will win the championships?

Once again it will be the Los Angeles Lakers versus the Boston Celtics for the NBA Champsionship. The Lakers have appeared in 30 finals and won 15. The Celtics have appeared in 20 finals and won 17.

The Lakers won last year and the Celtics won in 2008. Clearly these two teams and the best in the league and have been the two most successful franchises of all time. Here's the breakdown of the teams.

The Celtics had five players that averaged more than 10 points per game during the season. Paul Pierce lead the team with 18.3 points per game, followed by Ray Allen at 16.3 and Kevin Garnett at 14.3. Rajon Rondo averaged 13.7 and has evelated his game in the postseason. Kendrick Perkins and Rasheed Wallace were also key contributors.

The Celtics allowed opponents to shoot just 45.1% and 95.6 points per game during the regular season. In the playoffs the defense has been even better, 43.2% and just 90.0 points per game allowed. For the Lakers, Kobe Bryant leads the way.

He averaged 27 points per game during the regular season. Pau Gasol averaged 18.3, Andrew Bynum added 15.0 per game. Ron Artest, Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom were also key conrtibutors.

The Lakers held opponents to 97.0 points per game and just 44.6% shooting during the season. In the playoffs, opponents field goal percentage is down to 42.9% although points allowed are up to 100.6 points per game.It should be noted that the Lakers also scored more points per game during the season and the playoffs. The Lakers have the bigger star players, the Celtics could be a bit more balanced.

If the Celtics can keep Bryant and Gasol under control they can win the series. The Lakers played in the tougher conference and had a better record by 7 games. They hold the home court advantage and I believe they will take the series and repeat as champions.
