Im sorry you feel that way. I notice how many people who frequent this section do not know much about philosophy or prominent philosophic figures, myself included. Most people here only seem to want to discuss philosophic question, not specific philosophers or their philosophies, which I can sort of understand since I am in that category.
Those who do come here to ask or discuss specific things pertaining to the subject of philosophy tend to be students of the subject or enrolled in a class, which are there doesn't seem to be to many of them, which is probably why the section doesn't seem to be to helpful. I guess you can say that most of us are philosophically lazy. At least this section is nowhere near the religion & spirituality, or politics sections, where it is flooded with morons.
I try to only talk about what I know about, or at best give my personal take at what a specific philosopher or philosophy is trying to get at if it is explained to me. Otherwise I refrain from answering those sort of question, which others should do if they have nothing helpful to contribute. I also rarely leave sarcastic remarks, unless the questioner is obviously trolling or making a rhetorical rant.
These days you kinda have to expect idiots to leave unintelligent answers since it is now too easy to spout ignorant opinions without accountability or loss of credibilty. Sorry I couldn't help with answering your main questions, but at least I tried to be respectful to you and explain why this section is pretty much useless to you. Maybe you can try other sites where people are more engaged with acedemic philosophy, rather than people wanting to talk about their own personal philosophic B.S., which is more of my thing.
Assuming one knows the writings of such people and can actually answer you, which I think that, with a few exceptions, many of us, yourself including it seems, don't know about, I could be wrong tho and only you and me have never read their writings in this whole site! A better question so we know is not homework can be: " "I Think that what George Berkeley , Edmund Husserl , Jacques Lacan and Jacques Derrida have in common is this and/or that do you agree? What would you add/quit?" but your question makes it seem that you don't even know these people/ philosophers writings!
, like you have ZERO idea about it, and didn't even know their names until yesterday when the teacher dictated them to you! So I insist: what do YOU think they have in common? I don't know the answer but even if I did I don't think I'd tell you before you telling me your opinion about it, because I don't know if it's just your homework, in that case I wouldn't be helping you at all, all the contrary and I don't want to be responsible for you failing as a student, moresoever, I won't to do your homework if you pay me!
In other words: Just do your homework, dude. You've been coming to this site for 8 years and have not yet found any insightful/ helpful/ great/ thoughtful/ loving answer in all this time? Really?
Seems to me you're the one with the "problem" not this site. Perhaps you're mad because you have not found anyone to do your homework yet? Well, good luck with that, I sure as hell hope to not do your homework.
I'm sorry if you got offended by an answer such as "I'm not doing your homework". I do hope no one does it for you, for your own good.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
