Who feels Louis doesn't fit into the "plot" of Smallville?

I think you mean Lois, not Louis. Lois is in Smallville because the is a main character in the Superman story. She might not have known him when he was a kid according to the mythology, but Smallville does not always hold true to the mythology.

Sometimes they bring in characters that Clark did not actually get to know until later. Overall I think they are just trying to give the fans what they want by introducing the most popular characters on the show.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
