Yes. The social conservatives weren't enthusiastic about McCain, but nobody called him a RINO as they do Romney. The nomination process has been a roller-coaster ride as the social conservatives looked for somebody, anybody, to be Non-Romney Flavor-of-the-Month.
(Bachmann, Perry, Christie, Cain, Newt, Santorum, Newt again, Santorum again.) As for the more important question, who would make the better President, I don't know. In most ways that's McCain, who has vastly more experience and has shown a willingness to take unpopular-but-right stands (as against torture), but his selection of Palin as his running-mate made me question his judgement. If elected, would McCain have made similar decisions (especially regarding appointments) without listening to his advisors?
In contrast, Romney has shown himself to be competent in managing large organizations and (like Obama) excels at self-control and thinking things through. At a Romney rally in December, he earned my respect by taking questions from the audience, and a reporter I chatted with said that Romney's campaign stops run far more smoothly than those of his rivals. Flyingmusician: What makes McCain a hero was not his combat ability but his willingness & ability to withstand being a POW.
The Northern Vietnamese tortured him for years, but when they noted McCain was the son of an admiral and thus offered to let him "cut in line" and be sent home early, McCain refused, preferring to endure years more of hellish confinement rather than be unfair to those who'd been imprisoned longer. (I would have been so out of there!) A hero is someone who puts himself at risk for the sake of others, and John McCain acted as a hero. The contrast between his Vietnam experience and that of George W.
Bush could hardly be more stark.
No. He wass too full of himself and much in the way gulianni is stuck on his 9/11 record, mccain is too stuck on being a war 'hero'....when really he was no hero at all, but a prisoner who couldn't evade capture. A hero would have evaded capture and gotten away while I don't like romney either, as a former senior manager, I feel he has the business background and ability to unapologetically make the tough choices in budget and spending to get us back on track fiscally.
You don't have to be popular, just be able to say no and don't give in to those who feel they are entitled just because they had the poor judgement to have too many kids or not continue their education and try to better themselves.....or didn't come here legally and expect us to cater to them or expect to be catered to because of their color..... a tough manager with a good business background and the ability to say no is what we need right now not picking an idiot for a vp who's only redeeming quality is a hot *** in tight jeans would be a plus too.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
