I have always favored Teddy Roosevelt, myself, not so much due to his political persuasion, but rather because he appeared to be a visionary and a defender of the common people, willing to take great risks by defying big business and preserving some of our national landmarks when such attempts were not part of the mainstream of legislative thought during that time period. The man was once shot while giving a speech. He finished the speech, first. And he had all the right policies, some of which are still with us.
There is much to be said for having a Democrat run as a Republican.
FDR, LBJ, WJC I would say Franklin D. Roosevelt first, because he faced a number of crises with creativity and ingenuity, put together a great team of advisors, and was talented at inspiring and motivating a nation that was very angry and frightened when he took office. Second would be LBJ, who was almost great in spite of himself.
He was a very intuitive leader, and had great talent for getting things done. While he often used force over persuasion to meet his goals, he was extremely effective. Third I would say Bill Clinton, who did many things that I disagree with and made many mistakes, but he was intelligent (which made my own life demonstrably easier in many respects) and again, he assembled a talented team.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
