Why are blue whales endangered species?

They have a slow cycle of reproduction and have been hunted to the point where they find it difficult to sustain a sufficiently large population to ensure their survival as a species. Its not clear whether global warming is having an effect, but its certainly not going to make it easier for them. Whale hunting needs to be banned, however there are a few countries who kill huge numbers of whale species in the name of science.

Quite how killing animals amounts to science I know not, but there you go. After they have been scientifically killed, somehow parts of them make their way to the dinner table and are used as bogus treatments for a wide range of non life threatening ailments.

Blue whales have perhaps come to this state because of their large size, that drew human attention towards them. The human infiltration into the blue whales territory is the most obvious and basic reason for these large sea creatures to be included into the list of protected species.
