The Movement itself isn't racist. A few of its members might be, but that's bound to happen when you get a large group of people together. It's not fair to paint the whole movement as "racist" based on the words or actions of a few people.
But the Movement as a whole is hypocritical. No one was crying about "out of control spending" when the Republicans were in charge of Congress, and setting records for the number and dollar amount of earmarks in their omnibus spending bills. No one was screaming about "socialist health care" when the Republicans enacted the largest expansion of Medicare in history ($400 BILLION).
No one was moaning about the debt or the deficit spending when Bush and the Republicans were paying for their wars "off the books". But NOW, all of a sudden, we're supposed to believe they were against those things all along? Actions speak louder than words, and their actions now just scream HYPOCRITE!
There are many people involved with the Tea Party movement that aren't racist. They are upset about the government and the fiscal crisis and that is their right. I may not agree with them, but they have the right to protest.
However, much of their movement has been taken over by the right wing hate machine. This type of banding together because of hate is really unhealthy for our country. I wish those that were part of that movement for the "right" reasons would back away from this type of display.
The Republicans need to stand up and say "enough is enough" (they won't) and that it is not OK to call people ****** or ******. They are turning on themselves in many ways, which I guess is a good outcome.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
