Obama has little choice but do sue. The big problem for Obama and the USA is that taking billions from BP will hurt the pension funds of millions around the Globe. Anti-American hate is already on the rise and it will get worse.
BP has already given billions away to people in the Gulf to help their plight. The court cases will only make the lawyers rich and nothing will be done to help the situation - only a fool thinks different. We are now entering a ten to twenty year legal battle during which time BP will give nothing to the people of the Gulf where as they have been doing so to date.
BP will keep it's money for it's war chest. In the end BP will win and the people of the Gulf will lose. Stuff happens.
Obama desperately needs to have something going on to hide his inadequacy as a president. Someone in Athens once said, "The people get the government they deserve." Britain is already slowly turning it's back on the USA and looking to France.
It will certainly act as a deterant to other oil companys looking to skimp of health and safety to save costs. Very interested to know why Halliburton manufacture of the faulty part that caused the explosiion are not being sued. Very politcal the way Obama refers to the company as British Petroleum when it has been called BP fsince 2001, shows that he wants to pin the blame on those nasty Brits (well known baddies).
Of course it may appear that he is hurting a foreign company so it is ok, but a lot of US pension funds have considerable stock in BP so it will be US pension holders who suffer.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
