It was my understanding that Obama requested not to be invited because of security concerns for both themselves, and the royal family.
As soon as Obama took office, he took the bust of Winston Churchill which was a gift from England to the American people. Churchill was an English hero. Obama boxed it up, and sent it back to England.
This had to do with his grandfather's experience in 1949 with the British in power in Kenya back in the 50's. Allegedly, Obamas grandfather, was involved in the Mau Mau uprising, imprisoned and tortured for two years by the UK government. Nonetheless, Obama had no right to return the Churchill bust.
It was NOT his property to dispose of. It belongs to the American People. This action was a deliberate slap in the face of our strongest ally, as well as illegal disposal of non-owned property.
Also, if you had watched the news when Mrs. Obama went to England, and visited with the Queen of England, this very large woman from America, put her arm around the Queen. NO ONE touches the Queen like that. NEVER.
So Mrs. Obama probably felt she was an equal, which she is not. This was the second HUGE mistake. Besides these two huge breeches of etiquette, I don't think the Queen believed the Obamas could be counted on to follow the rigid protocols involved in such an historic event.
They have shown improper protocol on numerous occasions.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
