Capitalism' isn't a noun set in stone. 'Capitalism' is more of a verb. It's also a dynamic 'event'...that is its definition and application has changed over time.
Way back in the 1500's most commerce was carried out by certain families affiliated with 'the state' and most production was handicrafts carried out by individuals who by law were affiliated with 'guilds'. The word 'capitalism' didn't even exist. 'Capitalism' didn't enter the picture until the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the West....about 1830 with the invention of water powered looms for making cloth.
At that point a class of people became 'labor', while another class of people became 'capitalists'....since then a state of friction between these two classes has existed. 'Labor demands steady employment that includes an honest wage level. 'Capital' adheres to the Iron Law of Wages that states that wages will be set at the lowest wage that the most desperate worker will accept.
'Labor' in turn, for its own self protection created 'Labor Unions' in an attempt to balance the need for job security and the requirement that 'Capital' received a fair return on their investment. In the US, when unions were strong and American corporations were 'American' the US created a massive and wealthy 'working class' and a smaller but even wealthier 'Investing Class'. That's the 'capitalism' that we grew up with.
Since the 1980's corporations have become trans national, unions have been busted and capital has gone into 3rd world countries where unions don't exist, the governments there prefer bribes to taxes, environmental issues are ignored and profit margins are higher because once again the Iron Law of Wages can be enforced against a helpless working class. As long as trans national corporations can count on unfair trade and labor laws to enhance their bottom line jobs will continue to go away. The GOP/Teabag/Fox 'News' Axis supports this kind of 'capitalism' and they seem to have won the battle against the American working class.
The 'old' form of Capitalism is now dead and that's why our middle class is going away. Bummer, eh!
Government cannot create jobs. Government jobs are just taxpayers money, so you create a situation where you take more out of the economy than you put into the single government job, that you try to state will lower the taxes via unemployment. It is a snowball to total unemployment.
Private sector creates jobs. They do not need any government involvement to do that. They need government to stop hurting them and give them a clear look at the future, so they can take the risk.
The less government they see, the more risk they will take.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
