Why did Hannibal decide to take the second largest roman city rather than take Rome itself?

Hannibal did this because he needed to feed his army and the second-largest city had simply fallen into his hands without a fight. Rome was still a military target and heavily defended. Carthage was going broke from years of war and Hannibal was constantly fighting battle after battle and needed supplies, food, and reinforcements to take on Rome.

These necessities never arrived in any great quantity.

Rome was his target. Other cities were simply a casualty of war. He tried to take Rome, but was never successful. It was too well defended and his army was low on supplies, the logistics simply weren't there for him.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
