They were not banned at that time and still are not Many schools in the US have police officers assigned to them aren't they the same as armed guards..... In a not perfect world only the good guys would turn in their guns and we would be helpless and at the mercy of the bad guys. Too bad we will never know if a police officer was assigned to that school how many lives could he have saved. Drugs and drunk driving have been against the law for years and that does not help.
We could use the money we give to countries that hate us,our children are more important!
Two things: -Columbine didn't involve the use of assault weapons for the most part. The primary weapons were shotguns, a e. A pistol-caliber rifle).
The one weapon that might have fallen under the AWB was a Tec-9 pistol used by one of the shooters. But the other weapons were all weapons that would not have fallen under any sort of assault weapons ban. The homemade bombs they used were always illegal, as was the "sawing off" mods they made to the the shotguns.
-There is some question as to whether or not tighter gun controls at gun shows might have made a difference with Columbine. Harris and Klebold obtained the weapons through "straw" purchases - i.e. They had someone buy the guns for them.
Closer scrutiny and stricter laws might have made a difference there. Or it might not have. The people who bought them the guns were themselves already breaking existing gun laws.
EDIT: did some checking. The Hi Point carbine only took 10 round mags, but the Tech 9 did take high capacity mags of 30 or more rounds, and was banned by the 1994 ASW ban.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
