Since studies have shown the 1994 assault weapons ban was ineffective,why is Obama calling for another ban.?

Because they don't understand the underlying purpose of the Second Amendment. They have this idiotic notion that the Second Amendment is for Hunting and self defense against criminals. Because they see the Federal Government as a loving parent dedicated on taking care of it's children from cradle to grave and cannot conceive of the notion that the Federal Government might some day use the military or quasi-military groups like the ATF, FBI or other Federal Police Force to impose unconstitutional tyrannical laws on the states and that the Second Amendment exists to allow the states the ability to defend itself against a Federal Government that has become tyrannical.

They are ignorant of the historical fact that almost every tyrannical regime first disarmed the people before oppressing them. Hitler, Stalin, Mao all disarmed the public before starting their purges and re-education.

I own two along with many many other weapons. I am 48 and have NEVER committed any crime of note nor ever any gun infractions. The second Amendment is there for us to protect ourselves from crime and from the GOVERNMENT to that end we are supposed to have the right to small arms that can equal the possible threat posed by an invading military or our own government so "assault" weapons qualify for this.

Also in the very slim chance my home is invaded by a car load of gang bangers I will gladly rack for my mini14 and a 50 round clip for that job it would be the best choice.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
