Is equality of opportunity more or less important than equality of outcome?" Equality of opportunity is the only type of equality we should strive for. This gives everyone the chance to rise to their own desired level.
If they choose to NOT rise to the challenge, then that's OK too. They will understand that there were no barriers put in place by having equal opportunity, and thus will be OK with their lot in life. Equality of outcome would mean that those that choose to slack off, or are simply less capable may actually get rewarded because of quotas, in cases like jobs or political positions, as often happens here in the West.
This has the terrible effect of demotivating those that challenged themselves throughout their lives to be the best they can be, only to see that others are getting shortcutted ahead of them for faulty, ideological reasons. In a different scenario, those same people may be forced to perform to a certain level under duress in order to maintain an equal outcome. This might occur in communist countries where there may be mandated performance levels for all.
This has the effect of enslaving those that are born less capable. Now the real reason we cannot expect equality of outcome .... for the genders .... is because there is no such equality of outcome within each gender. For example, no two men are alike.
And we do NOT go around creating special laws for men that are weaker, or shorter, or less intelligent or less physically capable than other men. So why is it so important for feminists to force this upon us between the genders? Equal opportunity is fair.
Equality of outcome fixes the game, and in the end, demotivates those that would otherwise excel.
Equality of opportunity is more important because equality of outcome rarely happens without artificial forces.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
