Why do people believe in god when there is so much evidence to the contrary?

This is a poor attempt at ridicule. Today, theists use arguments like: there is something rather than nothing (contingency argument), the universe had a beginning (cosmological argument), design is here (teleological argument), beauty is here (aesthetical argument), morality is here (moral argument), the widespread belief in deity is here (intuitional argument), etc.—what is their adequate preceding cause? I would look up those arguments and watch some of the debates with Dr. William Lane Craig, Dr. John Lennox, and Dr. Stephen Meyer.

Now, back to your question—the atheist has been an exception in every society (both ancient and modern). Even now in America, when atheism is so in vogue, it’s still less than 10% of the population that say they are “convinced atheists.” I wonder sometimes, if they truly believe that when you die there is nothing and nothing mattered, then why do they fight and argue so hard against theism and Intelligent Design?

What are they so worried and upset about? Why spend so much of their time and money trying to persuade others and themselves that it’s not right? Why are they so angry about Someone they don’t even believe exists?

If there is no meaning to life, why would you care if people are deluded? I think there is something else, deep down in their hearts. I have discovered that many of them don’t want there to be a God.

You see, if God created us, then He also owns us. If He owns us, then He has a right to set the rules by which we must live. If He has set the rules by which we must live, then we are accountable to Him.

They don’t want to be accountable to God—they don’t want to be controlled. And so, it is their desire to explain the origin of everything without a Creator at all costs. Something else—in January of 2011, CNN had an article called "Anger at God Common, Even Among Atheists."

It cited an ongoing study by psychologist Dr. Julie Exline. They wrote, “In studies on college students, atheists and agnostics reported more anger at God during their lifetimes than believers.” It’s very interesting to be angry at someone you don’t even believe exists.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
