Similar questions: people dread statistics calculus.
Relevance They do not see any relevance of these to their daily life, so it makes it harder for them to understand, and hence the apprehension that comes with learning it or even saying their name.
They are tough subjects with languages all of their own. Most people do not use this knowledge in their everyday lives. I took 2 semesters of stats and 3 semesters of calculus for my technically degree, and have used the barest minimum of the first semesters of each at my work.
The experience was good, but putting that much time and effort into subjects with little practical application is hard to get motivated for. Yes, these subjects are important, and they have many uses, but very few people use this knowledge every day. I thought the courses were interesting, until they started rotating curves around axes and calculating areas with double and triple integrals.
I am sure there are engineering applications for this knowledge, but I wouldn't accept a job that required that much math on a daily basis. These courses are required for many technical degrees and end up being great for background knowledge, but the acquisition of this knowledge is more of a hurdle to overcome than a prized possesion to gain. I hope this helps..
For me... Calculus was what all of the "math smart" people took in my high school. I wasn't one of those, so in my head, it was something that would have been beyond me mathematically. Now that I'm married to an engineer, I'm pretty sure I was right!
In college, I knew many people who struggled through statistics, so I avoided it. (I took a class called Models in Problem Solving instead. My head almost exploded!) When I went back to get another degree, I had to take statistics.
I entered the classroom with great trepidation. Guess what - I had no trouble with it! Either it wasn't that hard or I had a great teacher... or maybe both!
In any case, I think that many math fears come from hearing from others that a particular course is very difficult.
Because primary-grade teachers are mostly verbally oriented rather than math-oriented, and they unconsciously ... ... communicate their discomfort with math to their students, so people learn a dread of math early, before they're mature enough to form an independent judgment. 1 Not easy subjects. When I took statistics, I took it in the summer and spent just about all my time on it. Class in the morning, homework in the afternoon and some study with a friend in the afternoon.
Even then, I forgot most of it immediately. Calculus was tough. Too.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
