I'm sorry you have a fear of masks. I would have said a few years ago that masks didn't bother me, but when I went to my first Mardi Gras, I found that all the people wearing the same masks up on the floats gave me the heebie jeebies.
Now, about clowns.I'm sure the serial killer John Wayne Gacy being labeled 'The Killer Clown" made the fear of clowns more of a reality than something based on just imagination. Ultimately, I would have to give credit to here to children and their limitless imagination. When we create a fear of the unknown as children from clowns and other characters in costume (Santa & Easter Bunny) they will stick with us for quite some time.(hey, I have that button too!).
People are typically frightened by things which are wrong in some way, wrong in a disturbingly unfamiliar way," Prof Salkovskis says. " You don't know who is behind the mask - you probably don't want to see a masked person walk into a bank. I imagine some horror movies featuring clowns - It, for example - may contribute to one's fear of clowns.
In my opinion, I would say that many people are afraid of clowns because clowns are really ugly. My youngest son says he is afraid of clowns because clowns throw pies at people and then everybody laughs, except you. My neighbors kid used to say that he was afraid of clowns because many clowns were tall and scary. So, maybe, everyone that is afraid of clowns has their reasons.
There is not just one reason.
Because they wear too much exaggerated makeup and walk right over to a quiet little kid and speak very loudly and boisterously! Also, some of them can be downright mean, teasing and loud. They are out there on the streets or parks and having fun at a carnival or parade (as adults) and don't realize they are scaring quiet little kids...
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
