It was such a huge part of the history of the world - it's quite hard to divorce it from what may have happened anyway. If the US and Europe weren't imperialistic then maybe the Ottomans and Japan would have been more so - we just don't know. Besides, the US (and other countries in the Americas) wouldn't EXIST if it wasn't for European expansion.
Most of the Evils of the world are caused by evil war lords, tribal leaders, despots, Imams, dictatorship and the like. If you look at the worse of the worse, the leaders want all for themselves and little for the people. The EU/American and allied industrialized nations pour money in to help these countries, but their own leaders prefer to keep them hungry and under-educated.
Some of the countries like those in Africa and some of the middle east still cut the clitorises off of little girls and raise them only to clean house and have babies. Multiple wives are allowed in several of the non EU/ US and allied western countries. In this practice the importance of the woman as an equal is lowered to that of property.
In some societies like DAESH (ISLAMIC STATE), female sex slaves are the norm and acceptable. Girls as young as 9 are raped and will be stoned or beaten to death of they do not comply to being passed around to multiple "husbands". War lords of Boca Haram take Christian girls and rape and torture them to death as slave wives.
NONE of that goes on in the societies which you are asking about. In fact, in places like Morocco, Egypt, and Turkey and India, the women have a higher status BECAUSE of the relationships with the west. No..most of the evils have not been causes by us.
Centuries ago, we had some of those evils and we evolved, improved and became better. The scientific and health improvements and the raising of the whole earth to a higher level is due to the Judeo Christian societies of the westernized capitalistic democracies and those who have followed our ways. The worse of the worse like North Korea and others are caused by evil home grown leaders who abuse thier people.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
