Amazon said my package has shipped three days ago and has given me a USPS tracking number. However, in those three days, the package has not changed location on their "tracking" page and when the number placed in the post office tracking system, it says, "there is no record of this item". What gives?

Amazon considers a package shipped when THEY assign a USPS number and the package leaves IT'S warehouse. (see details) It actually is then put on a truck awaiting other packages from the warehouse to be driven to a central USPS sorting center closer to the city or town of final destination. It is then scanned into the USPS system and put on a USPS truck for delivery.
Amazon saves lots of money "helping" USPS by bringing the packages to the central USPS sorting center. This is true primarily for ’Free Shipping’ packages.
It happend to me once I am a regular buyer at amazon since last many years and many a times I choose the free shipping as the item was not needed on urgent basis. Once I remember same thing happend to my package and there was no information available about the shipment status. I waited patiently and sure enough the package arrived within a few days.
I checked the status upon delivery and it had updated with all the information. I never bothered to find out the reason. On another occasion I had opted for the overnight delivery and kept checking the status of shipment.
Online everything went well and the status was being updated as and when there was movement of the package (Laptop Case). The day it was suppose to arrive I was surprised to see that the status showed "delivered" I was at home all that time as I remember I was travelling next day overseas and I needed that urgently (except I went to pick up some stuff from the pharmacy and was away for like 20 minutes). After getting in touch with amazon and Fed EX and having spent two hours the doorbell rang and my neighbour came to deliver that amazon box to me saying the FedEX guy was trying to ring the bell and there was no answer so he passed it on to me to deliver it to you.It all happened in those 20 minutes I was away.
Needless to say on both occassions I have no reason to blame Amazon. I suggest you just send a quick email to amazon as they are very prompt in their response and will immediately advise you either the status or correct any anomaly if they find any with the shipment. Good Luck.

Amazon said my package shipped on 11/29, ETA 12/03. I have not received my package and USPS says that the tracking# is invalid... Now what? Amazon HELP page says contact seller on the order detail page, however, I can't find "contact seller" anywhere on the order page... Is there anyone I can contact to find some answers or my missing package?
1 Sounds like USPS workers haven't been bothering to scan it. They are supposed to scan it at the beginning, but aren't required to do it with bulk mail, and are required to do it at the delivery point, but any other scans are serendipitous. USPS "tracking" numbers are generally Delivery Confirmation numbers. As such, the only scan that is required is the one for when the item has actually been left in your mailbox or on your front porch.

2 I agree with you, I believe that to be true but this happened to me before as well. About 3-5 days later, the website will finally say delivered to the first post office and the USPS gets record of it. It's like the item(s) are stuck in some kind of amazon/usps void for a couple of days.. it's very weird.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
