Why does my SyncServer / NTS-200 fail to get backup time from the Internet?

As a result of Symmetricom switching all of its IT operations to a new ISP (Internet Service Provider) on Friday, May 7, the IP address for Symmetricoms time servers have changed. This could have an impact on the ability to access time from the Internet on two current Symmetricom NTP time servers. The NTP servers in question are the NTS-200 and SyncServer S100.

These models acquire time primarily through GPS access. As a secondary source these models can acquire time through the Internet. These models are not DNS (Domain Name Service) aware, which means that they access time through a static IP address when acquiring the time through the Internet.

These time servers come from the factory with the Symmetricom IP addresses as the primary and secondary access to the Internet, and unless the customer has changed the IP address, this is where these time servers have gone to acquire their time.
