Why doesn't the city Zealand change their name to Old Zealand so New Zealand can change their name to Zealand?

New Zealand was named after Zeeland, a province (not a city) in the Netherlands by the explorer Abel Tasman who came from the Netherlands. Like New York, and York, New Zealand has an independent identity from Zeeland. There is no confusion between the two, and there is no need to change their names.

Indeed, the name New Zealand, meaning New Sea Land is rather appropriate for a country that is one of the most isolated sea surrounded nations in the wolrd, and is also the most recent country to have been inhabited by humans. It is called New Zealand rather than New Zeeland because this was the English spelling for Zeeland. There is however a place called Zealand in English.

It is an island in Denmark (Sjælland in Danish) and the name is only coincidentally the same.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
