Why doesn't the era of heavy metal rule over hip hop,we need some bands like the old days?

Of course metal bands are influenced by old favs like Iron Maiden! Every metal fan has to get into metal by listening to a metal album and it's usually a big name like Judas or Iron. At times it may sound like there's no influence but believe me it's there.

Check out Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, and Dragonforce for 80's style metal with a modern twist.

If metal for some reason feels dead to you, it's because you're not getting new albums by new bands. (It's a monumental task for a metal band to write 5 or more good albums in my experience. ) Satelite radio, pandora.Com, and magazines like Metal Maniacs can get you back on track.

Heavy metal is typically too extreme for a mainstream audience, so your typical radio isn't going to play anything worth owning. You have to go a little further to find cool stuff.

P hop rules over metal because it speaks to and for the oppressed. When I say that i'm not talking about from an American perspective either. It is a global form of music that allows a voice of freedom of expression for people who are trying to escape the most impoverished conditions.

If you go to any country in the world and travel off the unbeaten path away from all of the tourist traps you will hear hip hop. Metal is not as influential as hip hop is. Metal is only for those who think that other forms of music suck.

P-hop embraces all forms of music from Run DMC working with Aerosmith, To Nelly working with Tim McGraw, to Eminem working with Elton John and the list goes on and on and on. I have two suggestions: either open your mind more to what's out there or go buy guitar and make the album you want to hear yourself.

I wouldn't call Pink Floyd heavy metal. They were before that time, and much more...psychedelic.

Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and other heavy bands bands might get people pumped up, but they aren't that timeless in my opinion.

Judas Priest is going strong and they are in their 60's. Ozzy Osbourne is in his 60's as well.

Judas Priest just celebrated their 30th anniversary to British Steel.

The bands you mentioned Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are still making albums and touring.

Oh How I agree with you. Not sure where you're haling from as I have only just joined Hub Pages and am just browsing around but if you're in the UK I suspect the reason for the lack of decent chart music is something to do with the fact that the rock stations are all available on digital only i.e. Digital TV or DAB.

That's the one thing I miss about my time in America.......decent FM rock stations. Never mind....just know that you're a member of the elite with good taste. :-).

There are some gems that aren't played over the radio. But you know what? I kinda like it even though it makes all the good stuff obscure.

I certainly don't want my brothers and sisters getting screwed royally over by the radio that doesn't pay for talent, or the record companies that are worse.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
