Why don't Automakers hire non-union workers?

Only Ford, GM, and Chrysler hire union workers. Two out of the three went bankrupt. Honda, Toyota, BMW, and Kia hire non union workers.

These workers are treated rather well. I will admit they do not get the super wonderful benefits that UAW workers get, but they get very good pay and benefits. The last group I mentioned has not gone Bankrupt and are ALL expanding their factories here in the US.

The first group is also expanding their factories, but in Mexico. Quality wise the later group is better at it than the first group. A UAW person is next to impossible to get fired.

I worked at Caterpillar. UAW members there could do a great deal wrong and never get fired for it. Plus the big three are forced by their contracts to have people on payroll who only do unions business.

They do nothing to the product, but they must be paid for by the company.

Ford has the most number of non-union shops out of all the other major automakers, and in my opinion, have the best cars. I don’t know that the two are related, but given the fact that Ford was the only major American automaker that didn’t take a bailout and is still highly competitive with the other automakers, I would assume unions play a role. @ Dick – Most Toyota’s vehicles are actually made in the U.S. It’s best to actually research these things before speaking about them.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
